To qualify as a driving instructor, you need to pass a 3-part exam. These exams are just a test of the skills of the trade, nothing more. What you also need to learn is how to become a fantastic educator and survive as an instructor. This is where your driving instructor training with LDS will begin to differ from other training out there.

Here at LDS what we want you to become the very best you can be. We will work with you and support you all along your path to qualification….and that support continues after you pass. We don’t just want you to qualify, we want you to be a success in this industry.

The first thing we need to do is make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into. If you are interested in helping people reach one of the highlights of their lives, then we organise a face to face meet up with our Co-Director and Training Manager Terry. He’ll buy you a cup of coffee or two and he will give you all the ins and outs, warts and all, of what it is to be a driving instructor. You need this info before you part with any of your hard-earned money. Too many people get into the training with trainers without knowing all the facts, and when they do find out it might not be for them and drop out……at some expense too. We don’t want that to happen to you.

If you do decide this is what you want, we’ll work out a learning and training plan together with a timescale that suits you.

During your training you also have the option of joining our LDS franchise and becoming another valued member of our team.

The co-owners Stewart & Terry have over 40 years’ experience in the industry so we’d like to think we know what fantastic instructor training & support looks like. You’ll be in the perfect place to become a highly skilled and well prepared driving instructor.

The usual driving instructor training doesn’t support or train you like we do. We won’t teach you how to teach subjects, that’s lazy training, we’ll leave that to others. We will give you the skills to teach. You’ll gain the very latest tools and coaching techniques so that no matter what happens on lessons you’ll have the know-how and skills to deal with it.

With LDS, you will gain a solid foundation in the fundamental teaching and coaching skills. Many people who start training to become driving instructors actually drop out in the first year or two because they have not been provided with these fundamentals.
